Lift the old copings and mend the beam underneath. Replace
and bed new copings, and remove the top of the kidney to form an island
The condition of the pool related to the age and signs fo deteriation
included the tiles falling from the tileband from frost damage.
The removal of the top of the kidney is an issue for refurbishment
as in some cases the whold of the middle secion is removed. After many years in the pool industry with experience in all facets
of design refurbishment and implementation I asked the customer what he thought. He said why not just remove the top? What
a brilliant solution to an age old problem, so we did.
The island needed to be reduced, reinforced and waterproffed.

Tiles coming off on steps can be a real hazard and can act as
razors and sorting this out as soon as possible is the key.

Notice. Swimming pool dealers, Installers or Contractors all refurbish swimming pools. It is prudent to find out how much
specialist knowledge they have for concrete swimming pools. It is not uncommon to have heard from a swimming pool contractor
that the only way to refurbish a marbelite swimming pool is to install a liner. The swimming pool dealer only sold liners,
and had no experience of concrete or Marbelite refurbishment. Swimming pool installers can also recommend fibre glassing the
pool. This again be relevant in certain circumstances, however there are other routes that would be more applicable.
